The stories, and the people who tell them.
Center Stage Publishing is an independent press with a simple taste in books: thrillers that don’t let go, science fiction that respects your intelligence, and warm stories for young readers. Different genres, different voices — one shelf, chosen with care.
Meet the authors
Jack Heape
Thrillers · Science fiction · Service dogs
A native of South Carolina, Jack is a former U.S. Navy submarine officer, a licensed pilot with multi-engine, instrument, and glider ratings, and a PADI Certified Divemaster. Now retired, he writes in his spare time. A cancer survivor, his current mission is simple: live life, love freely, laugh often, and be a friend to whomever he meets.
Julian Marks
Mystery & crime fiction
Julian Marks was raised in North Carolina, where front-porch conversations, strong coffee, and a healthy respect for common sense shaped both his outlook and his storytelling. He writes character-driven mystery fiction with sharp dialogue, unexpected turns, and a deep appreciation for the people who notice what others miss. When he’s not writing, he’s saltwater fishing, wandering used bookstores, or grilling something low and slow. He lives in the South and writes mysteries fueled by curiosity, stubbornness, and more coffee than any doctor would recommend.
Susan Scaccia
Theatre & young performers
A native of New York, Susan graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Theatre Arts, concentrating in acting and directing, and holds a Master’s in Theatre Education from the University of South Carolina. She co-founded and directed the Rutland Youth Theatre, an award-winning program for performers aged 4 to 18. Susan hopes to give every young actor a sense of their own importance within the collaborative process — and the same admiration for everyone else on the stage.
